About
Andy holds performing degrees from Missouri State University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He has been a finalist or semi-finalist for the International Trumpet Guild solo competition, the WAMSO (Minnesota Orchestra) Young Artist Competition, the Naftzger Young Artist Competition, the National Trumpet Competition, and Regional MTNA Chamber Division competition. As a recitalist, he has performed coast to coast in the United States. As a chamber musician, he has been a founding member of the Springfield Brass Quintet, the Durwood Fellowship Brass Quintet, and the Paradigm City Brass Quintet, and has performed with the Missouri Brass Quintet. Orchestrally, Andy has performed with the Springfield-Drury Civic Orchestra, the Northland Symphony Orchestra, the Lee’s Summit Symphony, the UMKC Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, and the MSU Symphony Orchestra. He has also spent two summers on staff at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Starting Fall 2010, Andy will be studying at the University of Miami with trumpeter Craig Morris and will be a teaching assistant.
Andy has studied primarily with Grant Peters and Keith Benjamin. Andy has also studied with Keith Johnson, Charlie Geyer, Bob Harvey, and Philip Clark.
